South Yorkshire Police's Training Centre aka Robert Dyson House, located at Wath-upon-Dearne in Rotherham, is named after our former Deputy Chief Constable Bob Dyson, as a tribute to his long service after more than three decades with the Force.
The Training Centre is the exclusive approved supplier in the delivery of training by the UK distributor of Stopsticks, Michael Lupton Associates (MLA) Ltd.

Facilities at the Training Centre include a conference suite for up to 120 people as well as 20 training rooms (five of which are used for IT training) and an investigative interview room.
Robert Dyson House has its very own immersive learning media suite. The new suite incorporates state-of-the-art technology to run specific training exercises, helping in the real-time simulation of major events and incidents. It is also home to professional quality media facilities, including a small TV studio, which can be used as part of exercises for realistic media scenarios.
The most sought after courses in Force are the Advanced Driving courses. Such courses develop drivers’ abilities in safe driving techniques, response training and pursuit management.
Robert Dyson House isn’t the only location for training at SYP. Dog training is held at Niagara in Hillsborough, Public Order Training at a separate location in Wath-Upon-Dearne and Firearms training is at Warmsworth, Doncaster.
