Police appeal for information to locate high value gundog from Barnsley

Police are appealing for information to locate a high value gundog, which is believed to have been stolen.

At around 7.20am on Thursday, 6 December, it is reported that the woman owner was placing her other dogs into the rear of her vehicle, situated at the parking area at the start of the old Wagon Road on the A635 Lane Head Road, Cawthorne, Barnsley.

The dog, a German short-haired pointer, was believed to be in the nearby scrubland a few metres from her owner.

It is believed that when the woman called to her dog, there was no sign of her. As she did so, it is reported that a white Transit-style van left the immediate area at great speed.

The dog is micro-chipped and is liver and white in colour, and is a national champion gundog.

The owners of the dog are said to be extremely upset, and have gone to every possible measure to locate her.

Anyone who may have seen anything in the immediate area, or who has any information about this incident, should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 227 of 6 December 2012.
