Following 10 years of employment with South Yorkshire County Council, Anne-Marie joined South Yorkshire Police in November 1985, at the start of the civilianisation programme, taking up the post of CID Administrator at Rotherham.
In June 1992 when the first CJU’s were formed she set up the Unit and became the CJU Manager at Rotherham where she remained until 2007 with a brief spell seconded to the Best Value Department as part of the first CJU/TU Review.
In 2007 Anne-Marie was seconded to the Chief Inspector Criminal Justice post, which was then civilianised, and being successful on interview took up a permanent posting to the role of Head of CJU for South Yorkshire in March 2008.
Anne-Marie headed the project to centralise the 4 CJU’s into one Unit at Snig Hill Sheffield, introduced CPS telephone and Digital charging in the force and has been and continues to be involved in many other areas of improvement and criminal justice initiatives on a force and regional level.
Following promotion in February 2016, Anne-Marie is now the joint Head of Criminal Justice for Humberside and South Yorkshire, which includes both CJU and Custody portfolios and is heavily involved in the Strategic Partnership Programme, aligning service provision across the two forces and implementation of the CONNECT IT system .
She currently represents the Force at numerous strategic criminal justice fora and chairs the Regional Heads of CJ meeting for the Yorkshire and Humber region.
Her areas of influence are in the Criminal Justice arena ensuring the safer detention and handling of prisoners. effectiveness of the process of prosecution of offenders through the courts, ensuring the court process aligns with the needs of victim, witnesses and police operational capability, that CPS charging supports the operational requirements of officers and that the forces we are compliant in the area of Police charging.
Anne-Marie is qualified at Legal Executive level in Criminal law and Litigation and holds a post graduate degree in Leadership.
