Carrie has been Head of Corporate Communications at South Yorkshire Police since March 2014, a department which incorporates the teams of Media Relations, Public Engagement and Internal Engagement.
She began her career as a communications officer at South Yorkshire Probation Service where she gained a wide mix of communications skills. As part of her career progression she moved on to West Yorkshire Police to lead the communications strategy for the anti-drugs campaign 'Dob in a Dealer' in Bradford, which she later rolled out across the county.
After just 18 months at West Yorkshire Police Carrie was promoted to manage the Leeds Press Office which led to her involvement in the aftermath of the London 7/7 bombings, when it emerged the perpetrators were from West Yorkshire. Following on from this operation, Carrie became heavily involved in the work of the North East Counter Terrorism Unit setting out their communications agenda. Carrie then moved into the education sector where she led an internal communications project before returning to criminal justice when she took up role as Area Communications Manager for the Crown Prosecution Service.
She has also run a successful PR agency, which, amongst other projects, advised on communicating the challenges faced by women police across the world. This included providing training sessions in the UAE to police women representing more than 60 countries.
