Steve Graham joined Humberside Police in September 1994 where he spent time on general patrol, underwater search and the armed response unit.
In 2001 he spent 18 months as a patrol Sergeant in West Mercia Constabulary before transferring to West Yorkshire Police. There he served communities in both Leeds and Pontefract at the ranks of Sergeant and Inspector, introducing the Neighbourhood Policing model to the force.
In 2005 he was promoted to Chief Inspector at Chapeltown in Leeds and was involved in many events including the famous Chapeltown carnival and the ‘Robbie Williams’ concert.
In 2007 he returned to Humberside Police and was promoted to Superintendent in 2008, serving in North Lincolnshire. He went on to head up the Force Criminal Justice Unit from 2010-2012 before becoming Chief Superintendent in charge of the Force Operations Branch, commanding three key units of the Communications Centre, Criminal Justice unit and Specialist Operations unit.
In 2015 he was appointed to implement the Joint Specialist Operations unit across South Yorkshire and Humberside Police. This was the first operational partnership between the two forces which subsequently went live in 2016.
He is an experienced Operational Commander having operated at both tactical and strategic level in specialisms of firearms and public order.
