The Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) covers the whole of South Yorkshire and although the centre is independent of the police, SYP do use the facilities to gather evidence from people subjected to sexual violence.
The centre is based at Rotherham District General Hospital within the Isis Centre, which provides a range of services including all forensic medical examinations, crisis support and a room where the video interviews can take place.
These services are not just available for victims who have reported a crime to the police; members of the public are able to refer themselves. A safe environment is provided for you to be able to talk about your situation with fully trained staff, as well as providing information on reporting the crime to police and referrals to other agencies on your behalf - if this is something that you would find beneficial.
