Warrants and Firearms

The Warrants and Firearms administration department is a single point of contact for matters relating to persons who fail to appear at Courts throughout the UK and Europe, and offenders being recalled to prison (Unlawfully at Large).

The department is responsible for the grant, renewal of Firearms Certificates, Shotgun Certificates, Explosives Certificates, Registered Firearms Dealers and Home Office approved Target Shooting Clubs throughout South Yorkshire.

We liaise with Districts and all Criminal Justice Partnership Agencies, oversee the tracking and tracing of offenders wanted on warrant, and unlawfully at large, from receipt of the notification, through to the arrest of the wanted person.

Firearm and Shotgun Certificate holders can be refused or revoked, based on activity which does not comply with Firearms Licensing legislation.

Specialist and procedural information is provided, by a team consisting of:

Warrants and Firearms Manager, David MacLeod
Assistant Manager, Robert Acton
Warrants Investigators
Firearms and Explosives

Enquiry Officers and administration staff who are experienced in both areas.

The common goal is public safety.
