Area Description

The Southey area is a densely populated residential area incorporating several arterial routes for the City, including the A61 Halifax Road and Herries Road. There are also several small shopping parades, including on Herries Road adjacent to the Longley Estate. Southey is largely an area of dense housing provided by Registered Social Landlords, by far the largest being Sheffield Homes.

The Southey area of Sheffield has been made subject of a dispersal order aimed at curbing antisocial behaviour.

The residents of Southey have highlighted concerns to their local police team over antisocial behaviour. As a direct result, South Yorkshire Police and Sheffield City Council have jointly agreed that a Section 30 of the Antisocial Behaviour Act 2003 shall apply to the above area.
