Town and Kingstone SNT Site

Area Description

This area contains the town centre, with its businesses and shops, alongside residential areas. Barnsley has a busy town centre with many shops and a popular market. The SNT includes the residential areas of Oakwell, Monk Bretton, Kingstone and Park Grove.

Affected location: ASB, Street Drinkers and Legal high issues
Affected location: From Townend Roundabout and surrounding streets. Racecommon Road through Kingstone and up into Park Road/Worsbrough Common.
Affected location: Town Centre - 'Legal highs'- Issues relating to the taking of these substances in the Mandella Gardens area of Barnsley Town Centre.Resultant anti social behaviour, reports of drug dealing. Police/Ambulance attending to numerous reports of persons under the influence. This area has been extended to cover the County Way Car Park and Peel Square for 'legal highs' also. Street Drinking - Reports of individuals drinking the town centre, in particular the Peel Street / Peel Parade / Peel Square areas.


Two men have been arrested following warrants carried out by South Yorkshire Police as part of an investigation into human trafficking and modern slavery.
Police have issued CCTV of the last known movements of missing York man Clive Nicholson in the hope that it may jog people’s memories.
A Sheffield man has been sentenced to 13 and a half years in prison, for wounding with intent, following an incident in March this year.
