Police can now confirm the identity of a woman found in a brook close to the River Don near Fife Street, Wincobank, on Friday 1 December, as that of 57-year-old Angela Simmonite.
Angela was reported missing from her home address in Ecclesfield on Saturday 25 November.
Her death is not being treated as suspicious.
Angela’s family continue to be supported by specialist officers and a funeral for her will be held later this month.
Her family have asked that the funeral is attended by family and close friends only. They are incredibly grateful for everyone’s messages so far and have said that while they appreciate people may want to send flowers, they would prefer it if they made donations to the mental health charity Mind.

Officers searching for missing Sheffield woman Angela Simmonite have discovered a body.
Search teams discovered the body of a woman in a brook close to the River Don close to Fife Street, Wincobank, this afternoon (Friday 1 December) and while formal identification has not yet taken place, officers do believe it to be that of 57-year-old Angela.
Angela was reported missing from her home address in Ecclesfield on Saturday 25 November. Her family have been informed of the discovery and continue to be supported by officers. A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place later to determine cause of death.
