Police appeal after life-threatening collision on A1M

An 87-year-old Doncaster man is in a ‘life-threatening’ condition in hospital after a traffic collision on the northbound A1M motorway approaching Skellow service station.

The collision happened around 12.45pm last Thursday, 4 March 2010.

For unknown reasons, traffic has slowed causing congestion on the dual carriageway and a burgundy Hyundai Accent car has collided with the rear of a blue Renault Laguna around 50 metres from the junction with Leys Lane.

The driver of the Hyundai, the 87-year-old Doncaster man, was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary where today his condition was described as life threatening having broken both legs and suffering chest pains.

The rear-seat passenger of the Renault, a 68-year-old Newcastle-upon-Tyne woman, was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary with chest pains and later discharged.
