Three injured in Sheffield Lane Top collision
Police are appealing for witnesses after three people were injured in a traffic collision on Barnsley Road, Sheffield, around 7.55pm yesterday evening, Saturday, 6 March 2010.
A silver Peugeot 807 people carrier was following an unknown vehicle on Barnsley Road, travelling towards Ecclesfield, and both moved into the right hand lane at the traffic lights at Sheffield Lane Top to turn right into Hatfield House Lane.
With the lights on green, the unknown vehicle turned right into Hatfield House Lane followed by the Peugeot, which collided with a black VW Polo travelling in the opposite direction on Barnsley Road towards the city centre.
The driver of the VW Polo, a 33-year-old Sheffield man, was taken to the Northern General Hospital (NGH) with serious spinal injuries and detained overnight. His front-seat passenger, a 27-year-old Sheffield man, sustained minor leg and arm injuries, was also taken to NGH and detained for observations.
The driver of the Peugeot, a 48-year-old Sheffield woman, was taken to NGH suffering whiplash injuries but later released.
