Two men given final warnings for nuisance biking in Barnsley
Police issued two men with formal warnings after they were seen riding their off-road bikes illegally on land in Mapplewell.
Darton Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) is continuing efforts to crack down on nuisance motorcycling in the area despite the issue improving over recent months and being removed as a PACT priority (partners and communities together) by the local community.
On June 16, the SNT received several complaints from concerned residents, reporting that individuals were riding off-road bikes on Pye Avenue, Mapplewell, a danger and disruption to dog walkers as well as creating noise pollution.
When police arrived, they found two local men aged 39 and 17 years riding bikes illegally. Both males were given a formal warning and told that if they are found riding their bikes again in the next 12 months, they will have them immediately seized and possibly destroyed.
PCSO Roy Pendlebury said: “So far this year, Darton SNT has already seized one off-road bike and issued 4 formal warnings. We regularly carry out high visibility patrols in hot-spot areas and urge members of the public to report nuisance bikers immediately.
