Police appeal after arson attack in Gleadless Valley
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a fire at an address on Grindlow Close, at around 8pm on Monday 30 January 2012.
Officers are investigating the fire as arson, as it would appear the fire was deliberately started outside the front door of the property. The fire spread up the front of the house causing extensive damage to the property and to personal possessions inside the house.
Luckily, no one was in the property at the time, however, it could have had far more serious consequences had somebody been inside the house.
Police release E-fit and appeal for information
Police investigating an allegation of a serious sexual assault on a woman in her early 20s in the Sharrow area of Sheffield have released an E-fit of a man they would like to speak to.(image)
The man in the attached picture is described as black, between 25 and 30-years-old, taller than 5ft 8ins and of medium-to-broad build. He was wearing dark clothing.

At around 6.30pm on Saturday 3 December 2011, four men wearing face coverings and one of them armed with what is believed to be a hammer, entered a Post Office on Colley Road.

Police investigating a robbery that happened at 1am on New Year’s Day outside the Star pub in Rawmarsh, have released an e-fit of the alleged offender.
(image) The victim, a 19-year-old woman from Kilnhurst, was celebrating the New Year at the Star pub when she went outside to make a phone call. As she finished the call, a man approached her and demanded she hand her mobile to him.
Police appeal after collision shuts M1 south
Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a collision between two cars that closed the M1 southbound for around 15 minutes.
The incident happened in strong winds and heavy rain at about 3.13am on Tuesday, 3 January, on the southbound carriageway, just before junction 31.
No-one was hurt, but both vehicles – a grey BMW 3 series and a red Nissan Micra – were badly damaged, as was the nearside barrier.
Police name Rotherham man who died after collision
Police can now name the elderly pedestrian who died 12 days following a collision at Thurcroft, near Rotherham.
He is George Joynson, aged 85, from Thurcroft.
Mr Joynson is believed to have begun to cross Green Arbour Road from behind a parked vehicle when he was in collision with a red Toyota Auris, travelling towards Dinnington. The incident happened outside a kebab shop on Green Arbour Road at 9.39am on Thursday, 29 December.
Rotherham OAP dies 12 days after collision
Police are appealing for witnesses and information after an elderly pedestrian died 12 days following a collision at Thurcroft, near Rotherham.
The incident happened at 9.39am on Thursday, 29 December, outside a kebab shop at Green Arbour Road, around 40 metres past the junction with Katherine Street when travelling towards Dinnington,
Police appeal for help in tracing car: Bawtry serious assault
South Yorkshire Police are trying to trace the driver of a car that was seen in the Total Garage forecourt on High Street in Bawtry, between two minutes past midnight and 12.10am on New Year’s Day.
Officers believe the people in the car at that location would have had sight of the incident and may be able to help with the investigation.
