Police hunt for milk thief

Darton and Dodworth Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) are investigating a continued spate of milk thefts from Eastfield Crescent, Staincross which has been occurring over the last 2 months.

Police believe that an individual or group of individuals have been stealing the milk of residents, after it has been delivered at around 02.00hrs.

Police are advising those involved in the thefts that they are marking bottles with a liquid which is invisible to the naked eye but can be seen under a UV light, to enable them to identify the real owners.

Darton and Dodworth PCSO Roy Pendlebury said, “The individuals involved in this activity are showing no care or consideration for those who are affected by this. These incidents are particularly distressful for not only the milkman who has kindly replaced some stolen bottles but also the elderly residents  who often depend on the delivery service as their only means of obtaining milk. We are focusing policing in this area, have set up cameras and will act firmly with anyone who is found to be involved.”
