Residents' concerns tackled by Hexthorpe SNT

Officers from Balby & Hexthorpe Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) have been listening to and dealing with residents' concerns regarding the legality of vehicles in the area. Concerns were brought to the attention of the SNT that a number of vehicles in the Hexthorpe area were believed to be uninsured, untaxed and not roadworthy. T

he SNT set up a multi-agency operation to tackle the problem involving South Yorkshire Police’s Road Policing Group and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) team and Customs and Immigration Services officers. Fifty vehicles were stopped and checked as a result of the operation. One vehicle was found using red diesel and the car was seized. Two vehicles were found to not be insured and were also seized. One driver was given a prohibition notice for his vehicle being in a dangerous condition.

Hexthorpe Sergeant Chris Simpson said: “This operation should reassure our local community that their SNT listen to their concerns and worries. Hopefully the results will have a positive effect on the community and further encourage them to come forward and contact us if they have any problems or issues in their area.”
