Police are appealing for information following an attempted robbery in Carcroft, Doncaster

On Saturday, 16 June, at approximately 5.30am, a 39-year-old man was loading up his van for work outside his home on Chestnut Avenue, Carcroft.

Two unknown men approached him and one of them hit him on the head with what is believed to be a hammer.

The men then demanded money from the 39-year-old and searched his pockets, to no gain.

The second man then slashed him across the back of the hand with what is thought to have been a knife, and both men fled the scene heading onto Victor Street.

The 39-year-old sustained bruising and swelling to his head and two, 4cm lacerations to the back of his left hand which required stitches.

The first man is described as white and in his late 30s. He is between 5ft 7ins and 5ft 9ins tall and of an average build. He had a scarf covering the lower part of his face and he was wearing a dark coloured hooded top and jeans.

The second man was wearing a mask that covered his face. He was of a slim build and was also wearing a dark coloured hooded top and tracksuit bottoms.
