Martin Knapp is Head of South Yorkshire Police's and Humberside Police’s Facilities Management (FM) and Estates Services teams.
He originally trained as an Architect working in both private and public sectors, and has worked across a wide range of construction and infrastructure projects.
He led the architecture and property services in North East Lincolnshire Council, delivering capital design projects and building maintenance, playing a key role in the development of the Council’s BSF programme.
He later became Head of Regeneration Operations before joining Humberside Police as Director of Estates in 2008.
Since 2013 Martin has been heading both the FM service in South Yorkshire and the Estates Service in Humberside, moving both towards a joint collaborative service.
He plays a prominent role in the National Police Estate Group and is ‘Design Champion’ for both forces.
Latterly he has been playing a key part in delivering estate rationalisation and changes to support major operational policing re-organisation in both forces.
