South Yorkshire Police Sergeants and AFO Sergeants Promotion Process 2018
We are looking for exceptional Constables who are seeking promotion to the rank of Sergeant to help lead our staff and deliver the best possible service to the public of South Yorkshire. We are also looking for a small number of Constables with a current and valid authorised firearms officer accreditation for promotion to Firearms Sergeant.
The process will open on the 5th February 2018 to internal and external candidates and the Competency and Values Framework (CVF) will be used as a basis for the assessment.
The process will comprise of:
An application form requiring evidence in the 4 CVF value areas
A work sample assessment (via presentation) and interview
Full details of the process will be provided at a preparation workshop and will be included in the application pack.
The preparation workshop will be held at South Yorkshire Police Training Centre, Robert Dyson House, Unit 5, Doncaster Road, Wath Upon Dearne, S63 7EF. We are able to offer two dates for the workshop: 1st February 2018 1700-1900 and 9th February 2018 0900-1100.

You must have successfully passed your probation period in your existing rank
You must be NPPF Step 2 Legal exam qualified (previously OSPRE part 1) (valid within the last 5 years as of the promotion board selection date) OR OSPRE Part 1 and 2 qualified (no time limit)
You must meet the Force Attendance Criteria and Code of Conduct Criteria
You must have an up-to-date signed off PDR with a minimum ‘Meets Expectations/ Satisfactory’ rating and be able to include evidence of your CPD with your application form
If you are subject to UPP or have a live performance improvement plan you will not be eligible
If you have a live misconduct sanction you will not be eligible
You must be willing to undertake additional duties commensurate with the rank applied for as required by force demand. This may include being part of rotas, undertaking PSU duties etc
You must accept that the order of promotion of successful candidates will be at the discretion of the Chief Constable
To be considered for a Firearms Sergeant position you must also be an authorised firearms officer with at least two years experience
