The Tactical Support Group (TSG) is now in its fifth year of operation providing specialist support to the Force’s four policing districts.

This support is wide-ranging and includes rapid entry to premises, advice on public disorder and dealing with violent people who may be armed with a weapon but not a firearm (see Firearms support page).

Tactical officers will also work with the military in the event of a chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear incident. 

They will help with searches and provide advice at major crime scenes or on issues like terrorism, and even help out with house-to-house enquiries following serious incidents.
