Cyclist dies in hospital following Barnsley collision

A 17-year-old boy who suffered life-threatening injuries following a collision in the Carlton area of Barnsley last weekend has sadly died in hospital. 

At around 8.20pm on Saturday 23 December, it is reported that a dark-coloured Dacia Compass and a bicycle were involved in a collision in Shaw Lane, just before the railway bridge in Carlton, Barnsley. 

The 17-year-old boy riding the bicycle suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital, where he died on Sunday 24 December. 

His family have asked that their privacy be respected at this difficult time and will not be releasing further details. 

Officers are keen to hear from witnesses to the collision, especially anyone who may hold dash-cam footage.

Officers are appealing for witnesses following a collision involving a cyclist and a car in Barnsley on Saturday evening (23 December).

Just before 8.20pm on Saturday 23 December, a cyclist and dark coloured Dacia Compass were travelling along Shaw Lane, before the railway bridge in Carlton, Barnsley, when they collided.

The cyclist, a 17-year-old boy, sustained life threatening injuries in the collision and was taken to hospital.
