Police renew appeal after woman dies from injuries in Rotherham car crash

Police are renewing their appeal for information after a 58-year-old woman has died from her injuries, after a collision on Friday, 14 December, on Rotherway, in Rotherham.

At about 7.50pm a grey Seat Altea driven by a 40-year-old man was travelling on Rotherway towards the roundabout joining West Bawtry Road. A red Peugeot 206 driven by the woman was behind the Seat and its thought the Seat kept stalling on this stretch of road. The two cars approached the roundabout in the left hand lane and the Peugeot struck the rear of the Seat.

The woman from Rotherham suffered a bleed on the brain and was treated at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, and later died.

Officers would like to trace a man driving a small silver car that stopped at the scene immediately after the collision, and spoke to the woman. The man left, saying he had an appointment. It is not believed that the silver car was involved in the collision, but the driver may have witnessed it.

Anyone with information about the collision, or who may have witnessed the manner of driving of the vehicles before the collision, is urged to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 1056 of 14 December.
