Re-appeal for witnesses after fatal car crash in Doncaster

Police investigating a fatal crash on Wakefield Road at the end of October are renewing their appeal for witnesses.

At about 10.10am on Sunday, 28 October, 43-year-old John Scoging was driving his blue Vauxhall Corsa along the A638 from Doncaster towards Ackworth, Pontefract.

At the left hand bend after Leys Lane, near the village of Hampole, the car left the carriageway to the offside and collided with a row of mature trees before rebounding back onto the road.

John Scoging, from Pontefract, was taken by air ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary where he died a short time after arrival from chest injuries.

It is not known whether any other vehicles were involved.

Investigating officers are appealing for anyone who used that stretch of road around the time of the collision to come forward. People are asked to provide information on the manner of driving of any particular vehicle, and traffic flow, road, and weather conditions.

Anyone who may be able to help is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 506 of 28 October 2012.
