A 78-year-old man who suffered life-threatening injuries following a collision in Barnsley last weekend has sadly died in hospital.
It is reported that at around 12.30pm on Saturday 25 November, a bicycle and a Ford Transit Tourneo minibus were involved in a collision on Pontefract Road, Cudworth.
The 78-year-old man riding the bicycle was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He remained in hospital in a critical condition, where he sadly died today (Friday 1 December).
His family have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers. They have asked that their privacy be respected at this difficult time.
A 52-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He was released under investigation while enquiries continue.
An investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 508 of 25 November 2017.

Police in Barnsley are appealing for information following a collision between a pedal cycle and a minibus.
At around 12.31pm yesterday (Saturday 25 November), it was reported that a pedal cycle was travelling along Pontefract Road, from Shafton towards Cudworth town centre, when it was in collision with a white Ford Tourneo transit minibus with a full-length roof rack.
The minibus was reported to be travelling in the same direction when the collision occurred.
The driver of the pedal cycle, a 78-year-old man from Barnsley suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
