Advertising Tenders
Contracts that are under European Union thresholds are advertised on the region’s Buy Local website and Contrax Weekly.
In the future we will put these opportunities on the South Yorkshire Police website but until then check other sites or register with Blue Light for e-tendering.
Anything above EU thresholds is governed by European and UK legislation.
E-tendering
E tendering is a way of sharing information online to speed up the procurement process for both suppliers and buyers.
The police service uses an Internet based system called Blue Light to announce new contracts for tender.
It is free to register with the site but you will need access to the Internet. If you don’t have a computer then try logging on from an Internet café or a community library.
Thresholds
If the value of the contract is below European Union Levels, and the goods or services are not already available the tender requests are announced through:
- Advertisements
- The BlueLight electronic Tendering System
All Public Sector contracts above the thresholds are governed by European regulations using a specific tendering process.

Supply Chain Management
Getting the best suppliers is an important part of delivering a value for money police service in South Yorkshire.
To do this a dedicated department looks after procurement making sure that public money is spent effectively.
They work to national principles from the Association of Chief Police Officers as well as their own targets for honesty, equality, integrity and transparency.
