SAFER NEIGHBOURHOODS
Safer Neighbourhood Areas (SNAs) and Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNTs) were established in 2006. They comprise police officers, police community support officers (PCSOs), and local authority members such as housing representatives, wardens and more. This section of the survey seeks to establish your awareness of these teams.  PCSOs are employed by police forces.  They wear a uniform similar to police officers and deal with tasks that do not require a police officer's experience or powers.
Are you aware that there is a Safer Neighbourhood Area, or a Safer Neighbourhood Team, dedicated to tackling crime and anti-social behaviour in your area?

RESTORATIVE JUSTICE
The following questions relate to Restorative Justice.
Are you aware of the Restorative Justice (RJ) Programme that is currently operating in South Yorkshire?
RESTORATIVE JUSTICE
How did you become aware of it?
RESTORATIVE JUSTICE
Restorative Justice (RJ) is usually where parties with a stake in a specific offence come together to resolve collectively how to deal with the aftermath of the offence and the implications for the future.  Sometimes resolution is achieved without direct face to face contact (e.g. via letter or a third party mediator). It gives victims of low level crime & ASB the opportunity to:
              - find out why the offender committed the crime
              - explain to the offender what the crime meant to them and how it has affected them
              - influence how the offenders should be punished
The offender has to listen to how crimes have affected the victim and face up to the consequences of their actions.
From this description (or your own experience/understanding if RJ), who do you think would benefit most from RJ?
RESTORATIVE JUSTICE
If you were a victim of crime, how likely would you be to accept an offer of an RJ intervention?
RESTORATIVE JUSTICE
To what extent do you agree or disagree with the following statements?    Please select one option per row

Participating in RJ would make the offender more likely to reoffend
RJ makes offenders aware of the consequences of their crime
RJ is a soft option for offenders
RJ provides the common sense policing that I want from the Criminal Justice System
My community is safer as a result of RJ being available in South Yorkshire
RJ is a cost effective way of dealing with crime
RJ provides an appropriate response to low level crime and anti-social behaviour
RJ should not be used for offenders who have committed more than one offence
