Report suspicious activity

You can play your part in helping to tackle the terrorist threat facing the UK.

You should report suspicious activity or behaviour – anything that seems out of place, unusual or just doesn’t seem to fit in with everyday life.
Do not ignore it, report it.

If you see online graphic or violent extremist material or content that supports, directs or glorifies terrorism please report it.

Staying safe from terrorism

While the chances of being caught up in a terrorist incident remain rare, it is important to be prepared and know how to protect yourself if the need arises.

Counter Terrorism Policing has released guidance that sets out three key steps for keeping safe in the event of a firearms or weapons attack.

RUN – run to a place of safety. This is a far better option than to surrender or negotiate. If there’s nowhere to do, then…

HIDE – It’s better to hide than to confront. Remember turn your phone to silent and turn off vibrate. Barricade yourself in if you can. Then finally and only when it is safe to do so…

TELL – Tell the police by calling 999.

How to report suspicious activity

In an emergency or if you think you have seen a person acting suspiciously, or if you see a vehicle, unattended package or bag which might be a threat, immediately move away and call 999.

If you think that you may have seen something suspicious or you are unsure about somebody's activities or behaviour, however insignificant it may seem at the time, call the Anti-Terrorist hotline on 0800 789 321.
