A 27 year old man has, this morning, appeared in court charged with sexual offences against elderly women in Walkley.
An investigation was launched on 7th August following the first incident and stepped up further with a dedicated team of detectives, when a second and third incident was reported on 21 August.
Detective Superintendent Una Jennings said: “With limited lines of enquiry, officers worked tirelessly to identify a suspect. Within 48 hours of the second incident, a vehicle was stopped on the A18 and three men arrested. A 27 year old man has since been charged and appeared in court this morning.
“I want to acknowledge the relentless and extensive work of our detectives to bring a man before the courts for offences which cause such significant concern across our city.
“DCI Lee Berry has ensured the best possible care and support for the women affected and will extend this support to any other women who wish to come forward.”
