Investigation continues into death of Sheffield man

Detectives investigating the death of a 19-year-old man in the Woodhouse area of Sheffield have this afternoon (Thursday 24 May) formally identified him as Ryan Jowle.

Mr Jowle died in hospital in the early hours of Wednesday 23 May, following reports a man had been stabbed on Tannery Close, Woodhouse at around 11.10pm on Tuesday 22 May.

A post mortem examination has concluded Mr Jowle died as a result of a stab wound to his chest.

Specialist officers are providing support to Mr Jowle's family, who have asked for their privacy to be respected at this incredibly difficult time.

An 18-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with Mr Jowle’s death. The 22-year-old remains in custody and the 18-year-old has been released on police bail as enquires continue.

At this time a number of cordons remain in place in the area, as detectives continue to gather evidence and establish the exact circumstances of the incident.
