Romance fraud, internet scams and finance crime were just a few of the topics discussed at a recent veterans’ workshop in Rotherham.

Our Fraud Protect Officer Andy Foster was contacted by the chairman of the Military Community Veterans Centre (MCVC) recently, asking for some guidance around fraud.

On Friday (12 April), Andy hosted a large group of military veterans at Silverwood Miners Welfare Club in Dalton along with a representative from NatWest Bank.

He said: “We covered a wide range of subjects from postal, telephone and courier fraud to internet-based scams.

“We also focussed on banking protocol which is the way that banks work with partners to identify vulnerable people at risk of becoming victims of fraud.

“It was an honour to address this group of veterans and I was both surprised and humbled they decided to present me with this certificate.

“Working with partners like NatWest is important and helps with raising awareness of the issues we face around fraud and scams.”

MCVC was set up to offer friendly help and advice on a wide range of issues for military personnel in and around Rotherham.
