Officers from across South Yorkshire Police joined forces to take on teams from across the country in the annual Police Sport UK Women’s Football Tournament, held in Glasgow over the weekend.
Sergeant Laurie Millington, Police Officers Charlotte Hall, Anna Kelsey, Lisa Ainsworth, Dani Duncan-Blakely, Investigating Officer Beth Forshaw and our Report Design Unit Officer Amy Homans teamed up with officers from Northumbria Police for the 11-a-side tournament, which took place over two days at the Lochinch Sports Ground in Scotland.
Police Sport UK is a membership of over 300,000 serving police officers, police staff, retired officers and staff, who represent all police forces in the UK and provide social and recreational activities.
The team played five games against opposition from the UK, drawing in two out of five games, placing them fourth in League 1 and eight place overall.
PC Lisa Ainsworth from Rawmarsh Police Station said: “Considering half of the players had never met each other before, let alone played together, the performance, attitude and determination from everyone was truly admirable, particularly with some carrying minor injuries after the first couple of matches.
“I am proud to be part of a great team."
