A prolific burglar from the Hillsborough area of Sheffield has been sentenced to three years in prison for burglary and robbery.
Ethan Jones, 19, of Findon Street, Sheffield pleaded guilty to robbery, burglary and theft from a motor vehicle at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday (15 November).
On Sunday 28 April, Jones went into the Malin Bridge Mini Mart on Loxley Road and threatened the cashier with an adjustable spanner, demanding they hand over money from the till.
The cashier refused and as Jones left empty handed, he smashed the shop’s window, causing £500 worth of criminal damage.
In addition to the robbery, Jones pleaded guilty to four charges of burglary, which happened between Thursday 25 April and Monday 29 April 2019 on Lydgate Road, Corbden View, Stannington Rise and Barlow Road in Sheffield. Jones targeted the properties for cash, vehicles and jewellery.
He also pleaded guilty to theft of a motor vehicle from Leppings Lane in Hillsborough in April 2019.
T/Detective Sergeant James Dyson said: “We know the harm burglary can cause and the long term implications it can have on victims, this is why we are committed to making sure we take all action possible to put these offenders before the courts.
“I am pleased that the courts have taken the crimes Jones committed seriously and that he is now locked away from causing further fear or harm to our communities.”
