Officers from our Operational Support Unit and partner agencies held a day of action earlier this week on Thursday 17 October, cracking down on rogue traders.

The operation took place in Doncaster and saw our officers join forces with colleagues from Trading Standards, Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), HM Revenes and Customs (HMRC), Driver and Vehicle Liciencing Agency (DVLA) and the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Organised Crime Unit to organise a series of intelligence led road checks in the Doncaster area.

There were three check sites, where 37 vehicles were stopped. Of the 37 vehicles, six were prohibited from driving and will need to visit a testing station before been allowed back on the road.

Nine were given traffic offence reports for insecure loads and two more drivers were reported on summons for various offences.

One driver was fined £543 by the DVLA for using illegal red diesel in his vehicle and the driver of a transit van had his vehicle seized for no insurance.

Officers and colleagues from trading standards were also carrying out patrols across Sheffield locations that have been identified as hot spots for rogue trader offending and providing information to members of the public.
