Officers investigating a collision in Doncaster in which a 30-year-old man died are asking witnesses who saw the car prior to the collision to please come forward.

At around 1.25am yesterday morning (Thursday 26 April), a grey BMW M Sport travelling along the A638 Great North Road towards Wakefield, collided with a roundabout, close to Rockingham Way.

The car ended up on the opposite side of the roundabout, after colliding with a number of other road signs.

A 30-year-old man driving the car was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His family do not wish to release any details at this time and have asked for their privacy to be respected. They continue to be supported by specialist officers.

Sergeant Donna Roden, from the Serious Collisions Unit, said: “While I appreciate this incident happened in the early hours of the morning, I’d like to ask anyone who saw the BMW prior to the collision to please get in touch with us.

“In particular, we’re keen to hear from anyone who saw the car on Silver Street, Doncaster at around 1.15am that morning, whether you were a pedestrian or in a vehicle. If you’ve got dash-cam footage, we’d also be keen to speak to you.

“A 23-year-old woman who was a passenger in the car was also injured, sustaining serious injuries which required hospital treatment. She has since been discharged.

“If you have any information that could assist with our enquiries, please call 101 quoting incident number 39 of 26 April 2018.”
