Sheffield collision leaves child in critical condition

A seven-year-old boy is currently in a critical condition following a collision in Sheffield last night (Sunday 10 June).

At around 5.25pm emergency services were called to Wensley Street following reports that a white Kia Sportage, travelling from Upwell Street along Wensley Street towards Hinde House Crescent, had been involved in a collision with the boy, who was riding a bike.

The seven-year-old was taken to hospital to be treated for a serious head injury. He currently remains in hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the Kia, a 50-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing serious injury. He currently remains in police custody.

Police want to hear from anyone who saw what happened or who saw the car prior to the collision.
