Violent assault in Rotherham- did you see anything?

Officers are appealing for information and witnesses to a violent assault that left a 28-year-old man with serious injuries.

At around 9pm on Tuesday 29 May, it was reported a man walking along Thorpe Street, Thorpe Hesley, near to the junction with Barnsley Road, Rotherham, had been assaulted.

At this time, it is believed the man was assaulted by two men who were driving in what is thought to have been a silver Vauxhall Corsa.

The 28-year-old sustained serious injuries to his body and head in the incident and his mobile phone was stolen.

An investigation is currently ongoing and officers are appealing for any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time, or saw a silver Vauxhall Corsa type car, to report it.

Investigating officer PC Paul McIntyre said: “This was a violent attack that has left a man with very serious injuries.

“We have been making a number of enquiries in relation to the investigation and I would urge anyone with any information to please report it.

“I understand this incident will cause distress to our local communities, however I would like to offer my reassurance that we are committed to identifying and bringing those responsible to justice.”
