Man arrested following incident in Hillsborough area

A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and section 18 wounding following an incident in the Hillsborough area of Sheffield.

At around 12.20am today (Sunday 23 September), officers were called to Walkley Lane to reports that two men in their 30s had been stabbed.

Emergency services attended and both men were taken to hospital. A 31-year-old man remains in hospital in a life-threatening condition.

A 29-year-old man has now been released from hospital.

The 24-year-old man remains in police custody as the investigation continues.

Officers are currently at the scene and both Forbes Road and Walkley Lane, at the junction with Thoresby Road, remain closed.

Leading the investigation DCI Vicky Short said: “We do have someone in custody and our officers remain at the scene as enquiries continue.

“I would urge anyone who was in the Walkley Lane area last night, who saw or heard anything suspicious, to please get in touch on 101 quoting incident 16 of 23 September 2018.”
