A sixth person has been arrested by detectives in connection with the murder of 20-year-old Lewis Williams in Mexborough.
A 32-year-old Doncaster man has been arrested on suspicion of murder overnight, and is currently in police custody today (Thursday 14 January).
Four other people arrested this week on suspicion of murder – a 23-year-old man, a 20-year-old man, and two teenage boys aged 16 and 17 – all remain in police custody.
A 20-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Mr Williams sadly died after suffering fatal shotgun injuries following a reported shooting on Wath Road, Mexborough, at 4.26pm on Monday 11 January.
The cordon that was in place on Wath Road has now been lifted, but other scenes remain in place as the investigation continues. There will continue to be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days.
