This week, Barnsley have welcomed a new member to the ranks as Sergeant Mark Ellis joins the team in Goldthorpe.

Sergeant Ellis starts his new role later this week and will replace Sergeant Gary Bramhall, now an Inspector, as he moves on to pastures new in Sheffield.

PC Jason Pearson, also a member of the Goldthorpe team, is heading to Mexborough on promotion as their new Neighbourhood Sergeant.

District Commander for Barnsley, Chief Superintendent Scott Green, said: “I’m thrilled to be welcoming Sergeant Ellis to Barnsley and I have no doubt that the team at Goldthorpe will give him a warm welcome.

“Sergeant Ellis brings with him a wealth of experience, with over 20-years in policing serving local communities, and I am confident that he will build on the already excellent work being done in Goldthorpe.

“I would also like to thank Inspector Bramhall and Sergeant Pearson for their efforts and hard work across the district and congratulate them on their recent promotions, they are truly deserved and Doncaster and Sheffield are gaining two excellent, dedicated officers.

“I hope that you’ll all join me in welcoming Sergeant Ellis to the team and I’m sure many of you living in Goldthorpe will meet him over the coming weeks as he gets to grips with his new patch and continues building excellent relationships within the community.”
