Daniel Hanson, 39, of Stone Hill Rise, Scawthorpe, has been jailed for 18 months after pleading guilty to burglary.
He was sentenced at Doncaster Crown Court on Wednesday (6 February), when two further offences of burglary and harassment were also added to the charges.
As well as a prison sentence, he was given a restraining order.
At around 3.15pm on Sunday 19 August, Hanson visited an address in the Bentley area of Doncaster and stole an iPad and phone from inside the property while the owner was upstairs.
The items were retrieved after the victim’s husband located Hanson and contacted police.
Leading the investigation PC Josh Heath said: “We will absolutely not tolerate burglary in any circumstances and in this case, Hanson took advantage of a couple who had tried previously tried to help and support him.”
